About Kichonge
Baraka Kichonge is a mechanical and sustainable energy engineer focused on renewable energy systems. He began his education at Tanga Technical Secondary School and later studied at top institutions in Tanzania. He earned a PhD in Sustainable Renewable Energy Engineering from the Nelson Mandela African Institute of Science and Technology (NM-AIST), where he also completed postdoctoral research in Sustainable Energy Science and Engineering.
He works as an associate professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and serves as adjunct faculty at the School of Material Energy Water and Environmental Sciences (MEWES) at NM-AIST. He teaches and supervises both undergraduate and postgraduate students. His research focuses on renewable energy technologies, and he holds several patents in the field. Through research and training, he contributes to the development of sustainable energy in Tanzania and the region.
